Working in the Coal Mine
I didn’t post for 4 days (15th – 19th) because I didn’t want to shoot off my mouth about work stuff. Needed to do some coolin’ off before I started writin’ words. I had been developing an Intranet site for work for some time. The first version was a horrible looking (it was just text links) site done in ColdFusion, but it was the template to empowering the staff to use web based tools to help them with their jobs.
After I started playing ASP.NET and C# on this site and I decided to try my my hand at porting that site to the new .NET codebase. I should mention that at the time of the first site there wasn’t an in-house development team as our IT infrastructure was in its infancy. However, now that we have a great development team in place, there was no more need or want for me to develop the site and the project of making an “intranet site” was handed over to them.
My first opinion? SUCK! As with all things that one creates, it sucks to have that given (your baby per se) to someone else to take over. I know each and everyone out there knows the feeling. If you say that you don’t, then you are either 1) Still in high school, 2) Lying. But what am I going to do, cry about it? Nay laddie. Truth be told, it’s better off in their hands than mine. I just don’t have the time to really devote to that as much as I would like. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
The good news is that I will be able to devote all my coding to my sites instead. Keep down your applause.
